Annual event recognizes dedicated volunteers and community partners whose efforts help save lives across the region

Community Blood Center (CBC) recently celebrated the individuals and organizations behind thousands of lifesaving blood donations at its annual Chairperson Appreciation Event, recognizing the dedicated blood drive chairpersons and community partners who help keep the region’s blood supply strong.

CBC Chairperson Honorees

From organizing blood drives to rallying coworkers, friends and neighbors to donate, these community champions play a vital role in ensuring patients across Greater Kansas City, eastern Kansas and western Missouri have access to the blood products they need.

The celebration, held at the Morton Amphitheater, brought together blood drive leaders, community partners, and healthcare professionals for an evening of recognition and inspiring stories highlighting the impact of blood donation. Attendees heard from community leaders, learned about the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department’s innovative pre-hospital blood transfusion program, and heard a powerful firsthand account from blood recipient Amelia Knopp about the lifesaving impact of blood donors.

CBC also recognized outstanding blood drive chairpersons whose leadership, dedication and commitment to donor recruitment have made a meaningful difference in their communities.

Every successful blood drive begins with someone willing to bring people together for a common purpose. Thanks to the generosity and commitment of CBC’s chairpersons and community partners, thousands of donors are inspired to roll up their sleeves each year, helping ensure lifesaving blood products are available when patients need them most.
