CBC for Generations to Come

Welcome to Community Blood Center's (CBC) 2022 end-of-year campaign and thank you for playing a part in saving lives like KatherineMaking a financial donation to CBC this year makes you a part of our groundbreaking work and is doing something different to impact the community.

Katherine's family is thankful for your support of Community Blood Center so she can live a healthy life with her family. Your financial donation truly makes you part of these life-changing stories that take place daily in our community.

The challenges and obstacles facing the community blood supply have not ended as we transition to a post-pandemic world. But, with your financial support, the opportunities to continue our lifesaving work are endless. If you are unable to donate blood, your financial gift will make a difference!

**Note: Please be assured that all funds from your donation stay in CBC's local Community.

Discover a Cause You Would Like to Fund

  • CBC Annual Fund

To deliver what matters most to our generous blood donors, blood drive sponsors, hospital and clinic partners, and others throughout the healthcare industry, funding is needed for everyday lifesaving operations. Your financial donation provides CBC with the flexibility to allocate resources towards our most immediate needs, which allows us to provide the greatest impact on our community. With the blood donation landscape changing, CBC faces increased expenditures related to operating our donor centers as well as expanding blood donor recruitment.

  • New and Updated Blood Donor Centers

Since the pandemic, blood donor behavior has shifted; previously, 70% of our blood collections came from community blood drives, with 30% from donor centers. We are now collecting about 50% from community blood drives and 50% in donor centers. Your financial donation will support the procurement of additional donor sites and upgrades to current centers.

With the community’s support, we can establish fixed sites in high-traffic areas around the Greater Kansas City Metro. A donated location with the opportunity for a long-term lease is optimal. However, individual and corporate donations are also crucial and will help us maintain and expand these fixed blood donor sites through building upgrades, signage, privacy screens, underwriting, naming rights, and sponsorships.

  • Youth and Scholarship Program

In the last five years, we’ve seen a 10% decrease in blood donations from 16-18 years old, and a 15% decrease from individuals 19-24 years old. High schools, colleges, and the education sectors play a crucial role in supporting the local and national blood supply, which is why CBC is dedicated to educating and inspiring the youth community to become the next generation of blood donors and scientific leaders.

Your financial donation goes directly towards making a local and national impact in the youth community by enabling us to provide scholarship and leadership opportunities for students. Our scholarships and seminars foster leadership skills through volunteerism and community service, and exposure to STEM careers shaping the landscape of global healthcare and scientific discovery.

  • New and Updated 2023 Blood Donor Bus

Buses allow us to serve communities that may not have a physical location to host a blood drive or to help us host smaller drives. Your major gift towards a Donor Bus will allow CBC to provide access to an expanded population and diverse neighborhoods.  Our buses can be branded with sponsor logos, showcasing the sponsor’s commitment to public health and blood science throughout the Greater Kansas City area.

  • Helping CBC establish an "Employer of Choice" Reputation

Using some of the same practices to build the blood donor base, your financial donation will support  CBC’s initiative in building awareness about our healthcare and science career opportunities. These opportunities feed into our strategically located centers in communities near technical trade programs (phlebotomy-specific) and/or high schools with similar programs. Establishing an “Employer of Choice” reputation through STEM education and career opportunities enables us to shape the landscape of global healthcare and scientific discovery.
